Ayat-ul-Kursi —The verse of the Throne
When I was a child my mother told me to recite Ayatul Kursi before going to bed every night. She said if I do so then Allah will send an angel to protect me from any harm. From then onwards when I recite Ayatul Kursi I feel protected as if Allah is looking over me. Even now when I travel alone or when I drop my kids to school or when I put them to sleep I recite this part of “The Glorious Quran” (Surah-albaqarah- verse no 255) and it seems as if all my fears and concerns are taken care of.
Abu Umaamah said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever recites Aayat al-Kursiy immediately after each prescribed prayer, there will be nothing standing between him and his entering Paradise except death.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]
Everything has its pinnacle and the pinnacle of the Qur’an is Surah al-Baqarah. In it there is an ayah which is the greatest in the Qur’an: Ayat al-Kursi
