Miss Pakistan

Miss Pakistan

So-called Miss Pakistan World Ayesha Gilani, who represented her country at the Miss Tourism Queen International pageant in Zengzhou, China last month, shares her views on the modern Pakistani woman’s right to enter such shows. She says “ The pageant queen is one who is supposed to represent the epitome of beauty, inside and out. Naturally, the first feature one notices on another individual is the exterior. In beauty pageants, a contestant is required to be physically appealing as well as intellectual. There’s nothing wrong with celebrating the beauty of a woman; it is a God-given gift.”

I have a simple question for Ayesha Gilani, did she take any official permission from the governament of Pakistan to use the name of our country to show of her beauty which she claims to celebrate. She lives and works in US and if she claims to be Miss Pakistan then she should own Pakistan first, come and live here. I don’t think one needs a beauty contest of the sort to tell the world that our woman is independent and confident. Who says that taking off your clothes makes you more confident or respectable?

If these girls want their beauty to be appreciated in these ways then they should not use the name of Pakistan. You can click here to read her full interview and please comment if you are happy if pakistani women take part in such shows. We do have a voice, this is democracy afterall!!
