This beautiful ghazal came to may mind after a long time and I wish to share it with you all.This was written by last Mughal Emperor of Hindustan or India, Bahadur Shah Zafar, when he was exiled by British in Rangoon, Burma.

Lagta Nahin Hai Dil Mera Ujde Dayaar Mein
Kiski Bani Hai Aalam-E-Napaydaar Mein

Itni Jageh Kahan Hai Dil-E-Daagdar Mein

The sadness of the emperor who did not even  have a pen in prison is brilliantly sung by Mohammad Rafi. He has sung it with no music and you will be mesmerized by the combination, Rafi’s voice and Bahadur Shah’s words.

Tumse kia kahein janaan

Do we have the moments between us when silence talks louder then words? How often do we judge the other person’s reaction after saying something? How many of us have the free time to read the faces of our loved ones? Do we really  care to find the unsaid!

Neither do we have the time or the intention to spend quality time with the people who matter the most (even parents are included in this!). important chores, meetings , assignments, mobile phones, email alerts, text messages keep us occupied all round the clock….even during the sleep time. Unfortunately when we will grow old and look back the memory lane to cherish beautiful moments, there won’t be any!!!

Amjad Islam Amjad has this beautiful urdu poem on the same topic which I will share with you. Words were beautifully woven together and a translation cannot do justice to it.

Zindage ke melay (fair) main, khawashion ke relay main
Tum se kia kahein janaan is qadr jhameley main
Waqt ki rawani hai bakht ki garani hai
Sakht be-zameeni hai, sakht la-makaani hai
Hijr ke samander main takht aur takhtey ki aik hi kahaani hai
Tum ko jo sunaani hai
Baat go zara si hai
Baat umr bhar ki hai
Umr bhar ki baateion kab do ghari main hoti hain
Dard ke samander main
An-gint(uncountable) Jazeerey hain, be-shumaar moti hain

Meri piyari maa

When a male is born in a Pakistani family, his birth is celebrated. He is loved and pampered by his mom and sisters. One day another female enters the life of this man and (in majority of cases) he fails to maintain a balance. Here is a life story of a typical male in our society.

Jab tu paida hua kitna majboor tha
Yeh jahan teri sochoun se bhi door tha

Haath paoun bhi tab tere apney na they
Teri aankhoun main dunya ke sapney na they

Tujh ko aata tha jo sirf rona hi tha
Doodh pe ke tera kaam sona hi tha

Tujh ko chalna sikhaya tha maa ne teri
Tujh ko dil main basaya tha maa ne teri

Maa ke sayee main parwaan charney laga
Waqt ke saath qadd tera bharney laga

Dheerey dheerey tu karial jawaan ho gaya
Tujh pe sara jahaan mehrbaan ho gaya

Zor-e-bazu pe tu baat kerney laga
Khud se sajney laga, khud sawrney laga

Aik din ek haseena tujhey bha gaye
Ban ke dulhan woh tere ghar aa gaye

Farz apney se tu door honey laga

Ashq aankhoun main they woh rawana hui
Mout ka ek hichki bahana hui

Ek sakoo iss ke chehrey pe chaaney laga
Phir to mayat(dead body) ko iski sajaney laga

Muda-tein ho gayein aaj bhoora hai tu
Jo para tuti khatiya pe koora(garbage) hai tu

Tere bachey bhi ab tujj se dartey nahin
nafaratein hain, muhabbat woh kerty nahin

Dard main tu pukarey ke “oh! mere maa!”
Tere dam se roshan they dono jahan

Waqt chalta rahey, waqt rukta nahin
Toot jata hai woh jo ke jhukta nahin

Ban ke ibrat ka tu ab nishaan reh gaya
Dhoondhey(find) zor tera kahan reh gaya

Tu ehkaam-e-Rabbi bhulata raha
Apney maa baap ko tu sta-ta raha

Kaat le tu wohi, tu ne boya tha jo
Tujh ko kaisey miley tu ne khoa tha jo

Yaad ker ke gaya dorr roney laga
Kal jo tu ney kia aaj honey laga

Mout mangey tujhey aati nahin
Maa ki surat nighahoun se jati nahin

Tu jo khansey to aulad dant-ty tujhey
Tu hai nasoor, sukh koun bant-tey tujhey

Mout aye gi tujh ko magar waqt per
Ban hi jaye gi teri qabr waqt per

Qadar maa baap ki gar koi jaan ley
Apni jannat ko dunya main pehchaan ley

Aur leta rahey woh baroun ki dua
Isske dono jahan, isska hammi Khudah

Yaad rakhna to saghir ki iss baat ko
Bhool jaana na rehmat ki barsaat ko!

qabaar

Q A B A R-(The grave) is our last destination. We keep on denying the fact that we have to die one day. On watching people around us departing for the final journey, we feel death is catching others only. We plan for hundred years and don’t know if we will for one more day to live. I am not being negative but thinking about the “end” keeps our perspective about life on the right track. Lets think about it once daily and buy some decorations and air conditioners for our final room, the grave.

Here is a poetic version of how the grave calls us everyday.
Karti Hai Rozana Ye Pukar,

Mujhme he Keede Makode Beshumar,

…Mai Hu Andheri Kothri,

Mujhme Hogi Wehshat Badi,

Mujhme Tu AKELA Ayega,

Haa Magar AA’MAAL Saath Layega,

Picture is not so gloomy for the true and practicing muslims. I read an encouraging and interesting description of what will happen to the good and bad people once their life in this world ends. If you are scared of the grave then u have to read this. Allah is the kindest, Subhan Allah.

The Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h.) said,
“Seek Allah’s protection from the punishment of the grave since punishment of the grave is a fact/true.” (Sahih: At Tabarani in al Kabeer from Umm Khalid Bint Khalid Ibn Sa’eed Ibn al ‘Aas.)

The Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h.) said,
“Verily the grave is the first stopping place for the Hereafter; so if he is saved therein, then what comes after is easier than it. And if he is not saved there from, then that which comes after is harder.” (Hasan: At Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, al Hakim: from Uthmaan)

It is reported also in theSahihof Muslim that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“When any one of you completes the lastTashahhud, he should seek refuge with Allah from four (trials): the torment of Hell, the torment of grave, the trial of life and death, and the evil of the trial of al-MasikhAd-Dajjaal(Antichrist).”

This bird is trying to stop the other one from speaking. It seems even the birds do not believe in the freedom of expression any more:)))

Or it looks like a tired husband is back from work and cannot tolerate the wife’s complaints. He has lost his temper like humans ))

Anyway, it is excellent photography. I wonder how someone captured this unique action and that too with perfection. can you think of any other caption?

I wonder……………………

If Prophet Muhammad visited you
Just for a day or two,
If he came unexpectedly,
I wonder what you would do?
Oh I know you would give your nicest room,
To such an honored guest,
And you would serve him your very best.

You would be the very best,
Cause you’re glad to have him there,
That serving him in your home
Would be a joy without compare.

But…when you see him coming,
Would you meet him at the door
With your arms outstretched in welcome,
To your visitor?

Or…would you have to change your clothes
before you let him in?
Or hide some magazines and put
The Qur’an where they had been?

Would you still watch those movies,
Or your T.V. set?
Or would you switch it off,
Before he gets upset.

Would you turn off the radio,
And hope he had not heard?
And wish that you did not utter
your last loud hasty word?

Would you hide your worldly music,
And instead take out Hadith books?
Could you let him walk right in,
Or would you rush about?

And I wonder…if the Prophet (saw) spent, a day or two with you,
Would you go on doing the things you always do?
Would you go right on and say the things You always say?
Would life for you continue
As it does from day to day?

Would your family conversations,
Keep up their usual pace?
And would you find it hard each meal,
To say a table grace?

Would you keep up each and every prayer?
Without putting on a frown?
And would you always jump up early,
For Fajr at dawn?

Would you sing the songs you always sing?
And read the book you read?
And let him know the things on which,
Your mind and spirit feed?

Would you take the Prophet with you,
Everywhere you plan to go?
Or, would you maybe change your plans,
Just for a day or so?

Would you be glad to have him meet,
Your very closest friends?
Or, would you hope they stay away,
Until his visit ends?

Would you be glad to have him stay,
Forever on and on?
Or would you sigh with great relief,
When he at last was gone?

It might be interesting to know,
The things that you would do.
If Prophet Muhammad came,
To spend some time with you
