Sheer-Khurma

After a month of fasting Muslims all around the world celebrate “eid”(one of the most important festival in Islamic calender). I wish we all have a peaceful and happy eid day.

First thing on the eid morning is to offer prayer and then festivities begin. We start our day with eating something sweet and traditionally it is the “shirkhorma”. I would love to share the recipe with you all. So here it is

SHEER KHURMA (sewiyan):

vermicelli -1pack

sugar -1 cup

milk -4 cups

almond -1/4 cup (soaked in milk overnight and cut in long pieces)

raisins-1/4 cup

pistachio-1/4 cup

dried dates-9(soaked in milk overnight and cut in long pieces)

butter-200 gms

cream-1/2 cup

cardamom-7 pieces

METHOD:

Put butter in the pan and fry cardamom seeds then fry vermicelli on very light heat for about 10 minutes. Now add milk and let it boil until its a little thick. When it boils for about 5min then add sugar, almonds,pistachios,dried dates and raisins. Add cream, mix well and cover it on a very light heat for about 5 more minutes and your delicious sheer khurma is ready for serving and eating.

Once we are done with food lets talk about colorful dresses, bangles and mehndi(henna). Mehndi is paste of green leaves which is applied on hands for its color.
