Its 'Her' Perspective of the World

Samina Baig – First Pakistani Woman to Conquer Mount Everest

Samina Baig – First Pakistani Woman to Conquer Mount Everest

Where there is a will, there is a way!
Climbing a mountain requires strength, both of mind and body. Samina Baig has proved herself to be role model for all Pakistani women. If you want to achieve something even as big as climbing the highest peak of the World then you can do it! She managed to be the first women to hold Pakistan flag on the top of Everest and I wish her all the best in whatever she does in life.

19 May 2013 _ The brother-sister duo from Shimshal village in Hunza valley, Pakistan, climbed the highest peak in the World which made Samina Baig, 21, the first ever Pakistani woman to conquer Everest. And her brother Mirza Ali  becomes the third and youngest Pakistani male to scale the mountain.

The lofty peak of Everest witnessed ‘height’ of Indo-Pak friendship on Sunday when two sets of siblings from both countries reached there almost together. Twin sisters Tashi and Nungshi Malik from Dehradun in India along with Ali and Samina reached the summit (8,848 m) at 7:30am (Nepali time) and hoisted flags of both nations side by side.

It was no coincidence that both sets of siblings reached the peak at the same time. They were part of the same expedition and had planned to make a statement from the top. The girls, who became good friends while preparing for the ascent and getting acclimatized to the weather conditions, also wanted to highlight gender inequality in both the South Asian nations.

“Our women face similar gender challenges. Let’s fight them together. If our women progress, our societies will. And peace is assured,” Samina, Tashi and Nungshi wrote on their Facebook page. “Mountaineers for Peace”

Among those mountaineers are the first Saudi woman to climb the mountain, the first Pakistani woman, a Qatari prince and a famous Nepali film star.

Out of the 400 people who have attenpted to climb to the roof of the World-The Mount Everest only 75 of them have been women, but there are more to come!
