Fasting in the month of Ramadan is one of the pillars of Islam. Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said : "It is Allah's own month". I believe we should prepare and plan before the arrival of Ramadan. Preparing means to organize our daily routine in such a way that we get more time for prayer, recitation of Quran, nawafil, meditation and living peacefully with the people around us. Its better to finish all the shopping before Ramadan starts and ... Read More

Q A B A R-(The grave) is our last destination. We keep on denying the fact that we have to die one day. On watching people around us departing for the final journey, we feel death is catching others only. We plan for hundred years and don't know if we will for one more day to live. I am not being negative but thinking about the "end" keeps our perspective about life on the right track. Lets think about it ... Read More

Many people have started saying that Pakistan should not have banned facebook but I think after reporting the page to the Facebook we had no other option left. This will not be a lifetime ban but was meant to say "we are hurt".
On the other hand this page may not have got so much publicity in the first place if muslims would not have responded to it. But we made it a point to spread it among us like fire. ... Read More

If someone is following a lady to attack or harrass her then she can convert her skirt into a vending machine!! A Japanese designer has unveiled a garment that doubles as a disguise, unfolding to look like the front of a vending machine. It may look decidedly silly, but Aya Tsukioka's idea has a serious aim to help ease women's fear of crime and discourage would-be attackers. Read more.

I read a very interesting interview in Guardian of a Guantanamo Guard who converted to Islam after only six months of this interaction with muslim detaniees.
Now called Mustafa Abdullah, he writes " While the guards indulged in alcohol, porn and sports, Holdbrooks says he needed to learn how the detainees could endure abuse and still smile, while he was utterly miserable."
He was looking of peace of mind and discipline in life which he hoped to get after entering Islam.

The nation has heard plenty of debate over racial profiling. But there's a form of religious profiling that some young Muslim women in America say they endure whenever they voluntarily wear the hijab. The hijab, also known as the veil, is the headscarf worn by Muslim women around the globe. It's a simple piece of cloth, but it can place young Muslim women in Western countries in difficult situations.

We know how much food is wasted and thrown away. People fill their plates and leave them and refill ... Read More

WASHINGTON, April 24: Two days of continuous congressional hearings on the Obama administration’s foreign policy brought a rare concession from US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who acknowledged that the United States too had a share in creating the problem that plagues Pakistan today. In an appearance before a subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee on Thursday, Mrs Clinton explained how the militancy in Pakistan was linked to the US-backed proxy war against the Soviets in Afghanistan. “We can point ... Misconception # 1: It is not civilized to have more than one wife at a time.Reply: The only religious book that says: “? then marry only once” is the
Quran, the holy book of the Muslims. This injunction is not found in the
Christian Bible, in the Hindu Geeta, or in the Jewish holy book etc. In the
Bible there are so many references to various prophets and kings who had
numerous wives. Abraham had three wives, while King Solomon had seven
hundred wives, etc. ... Read More
