The Iraqi journalist jailed after hurling his shoes at former President George W. Bush, will be released next month after his sentence was reduced for good behaviour.
Muntadhar al-Zeidi’s act during Bush’s last visit to Iraq as President turned the 30-year-old reporter into a folk hero across the Arab world, amid growing anger at the 2003 invasion. He did not use a weapon nor did he try to kill Mr Bush still he was sent to prison. He should get a ... Read More

Virtual life has some very interesting benefits like if you are talking to someone and you wish to discontinue then just close the window. And we all know the magic of “delete”. This is something I always wanted to have in real life to delete some decisions, some days of life, some words spoken which may have hurt others….but our words always stay in the memories of other people.
Now I know that it is not very easy to delete things ... Read More

Stanford University takes on board Pakistani Media Professional to advise on Global Media Development and Journalism in Pakistan.
While surfing on the net, browsing my favorite news sites i.e. The Wall Street Journal and the allvoices.com, I was truly happy to see a young and dynamic Pakistani to make headlines for Pakistan. The appointment of Amir Jahangir as the program advisor to the VINNOVA-Stanford Research Center of Innovation Journalism has re-emphasized my faith in the hard work ... Read More

What is happening in Pakistan is really sad and I hope things will improve. I have this feeling that too much of media coverage or you may call it propaganda intensifies the whole situation. The law breakers and terrorist know whatever they do will be covered on the media and their message will travel to lengths they can never reach themselves. They are negatively using this information tool to their benefit.

These rolling scroll bars and " breaking news" have become a part of our lives. When the term was frst introduced a few years ago it was used once in a while for "big" news only. Now for one we have these big news happening all the times, like there are bomb blasts everyday now. Secondly tens of our local news channels are "breaking news" all the time.
If there are major news stories like the Marriott blast or the attack ... Read More

Time for the media to step up
Ayesha Ijaz Khan
If ever there was a time to shun The New York Times, BBC or other mainstream sources of news, this was it. How were the attacks in Mumbai being covered in other parts of the world? If you live in London and have Sky TV, there are several options for finding out. So I ... Read More

Work at the West Bengal plant was suspended in August

Published in The Independent, it is definitely worth reading.
‘Since you were so kind as to greet us in London at Downing Street last month, the President would like to return the favour,” announces Major-General Rashid Qureshi, President Pervez Musharraf’s PR man over the phone. Only in Pakistan could the government’s head of spin be a retired major-general. He is referring to my last encounter with the President on 28 January – when, along with a 2,000-strong, placard-waving, slogan-jeering mob, I ... Read More
