In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the holy man’s mouth water. The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles, that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful. But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering. God said, ‘You have seen Hell.’

They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one.
There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man’s mouth water. The people were equiped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking. The holy man said, ‘I don’t understand..’

It is simple,’ said God . ‘It requires but one skill. You see they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves.’

Remember to share your spoon with others and you will make your surroundings like a heaven.

Sharing makes life easier!

Mush was out with his driver….. their car hit a dog who died……Mush asked the driver to go and bury the dog in the nearby village while Mush waits in the car……after the burial the villagers showered the driver with flowers and carried him on their shoulders, dancing and were very happy………………….
Mush asked the driver why are they doing this. He replied i dont know Sir i just told them that i am Mush’s driver….aur Kutta mar gya hai…….!

OH God!

My blog in my thoughts had all the colors of Pakistan, its beauty, its fashions, its people, its poetry but I am yet to share all this with you. In coming days, I hope to show you a glimpse of my beloved country whose face has lost its shine, in the media and maybe in reality too. But this does not mean the people of Pakistan are less loving, less hospitable, less colorful now than what they used to be.

Let me show you a picture of  a Pakistani household first. There is a grandfather (we call him dada jan) and a grandmother (dadi jan), and both these elders are not only respected and loved, but are the source of strength, stability and love for the whole family. Kids of the family have their dada jan, dadi jan, ammi (mom), abbu (dad) to guide, love and care but there are a whole lot of other people who make their lives complete. There are phupos (dad’s sisters), chachus (dad’s brothers), mamus (mom’s bros), khalas (mom’s sisters). Living together means sharing each others pleasures, compromising with each other, overcoming our personality differences. We manage some success in the above but all can’t be sweet!!! So our lives are a little spicy too…..
